The 24-year-old joins the Bundesliga club as a potential replacement for Edin Dzeko, who continues to be linked with the likes of AC Milan, Juventus and Manchester City.

Wolves head coach Steve McClaren told the club's official website: "In our system it is important that the attackers are flexible.

"I have had Mario in my sights for a long time and I am happy that he is now with us."
