Mariners' Bedard to get third opinion

07/23/2010 - Seattle, WA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Seattle Mariners pitcher Erik Bedard will get another opinion on his sore pitching shoulder.

The left-hander underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum last August, but has not recovered as expected. According to The Seattle Times, Bedard will see orthopedic surgeon and shoulder specialist Dr. David Altchek next week in New York.

Bedard has already consulted Dr. Lewis Yocum, who performed the labrum surgery, and team medical director Ed Khalfayan.

El Duque expected to throw Tuesday

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- New York Mets pitcher Orlando Hernandez, sidelined at spring training because of arthritis in his neck, is expected to resume throwing on Tuesday.

Hernandez received a cortisone shot Thursday after leaving camp and returning to New York to have his neck examined. The 41-year-old right-hander is penciled in as the team's No. 2 starter behind Tom Glavine.
